This is an exceptional quality vintage handmade Persian Kashan that has been well-loved and has many signs of wear. The traditional floral and vine allover design is a timeless classic. This rug was hand-knotted with the finest quality wool made from the softest parts of the lamb, known as Manchester wool.  It is thick and plush and soft and can handle high traffic. It will last for generations.  This rug has a very high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) for precise and fine details and it was made with superb craftsmanship.  The elegant creamy ecru open field provides the backdrop for abundant, elegant floral sprays and bouquets in exquisite detail and perfect symmetry.  The flowers are hand-knotted in every shade of blue, from sapphire to turquoise, steel blue and teal, sky blue, ocean blue, cornflower blue, and accents of plum, sea green, chocolate, mocha, taupe and heather gray.  All colors are made from natural dyes. The wide and majestic border is a perfect complement to the rug, with a larger format intricate garland of delicate blue flowers on the vine in the same stunning shades of blue and other accent colors on a gray-green backdrop with thin rows of ivory and blue with tiny flower repeats framing it.  This rug is exquisite, but it has seen a lot of use.  From afar, it is perfect, but up close, you can see countless small spots and stains and imperfections.  See last two photos for close-ups.  Size: 9'2"x11'3"
