This is one of those show-stopper rugs, where the colors and the patterns take your breath away. This stunning antique 1940's handmade Persian Sarough is in mint condition. This rug is truly fine quality with a high quality wool and fine craftsmanship. The rug has a remarkably full and even pile that is soft underfoot and can withstand high traffic. The allover floral and urn design is a traditional pattern that is also timeless, often described as Victorian. The crimson red background is elusive, seemingly changing colors as it glistens in the light. The rug is artfully woven with abundant floral and vine motifs in exquisite detail, sprays and bouquets of flowers hand-knotted in peach, gold, sapphire, azure blue, sky blue, midnight blue, copper, shell pink and carnation pink. The colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes and have aged beautifully. The border is spectacular with complementary floral motifs in delicate and elegant patterns with flourishes and a fine checkerboard pattern. The rug is even more beautiful in person. Size: 9'2"x17'5"
