This is a stunning rug and a timeless classic -- a very fine quality handmade antique blue traditional Persian Kashan rug in mint condition in a palace size that is perfect for great rooms and large spaces. Hand-knotted in the 1940s by master weavers, this rug is made from high quality silk and wool that comes from the softest parts of the lamb. It is handmade with a high knot count (or KPSI, knots per square inch) for incredibly precise details and the colors are made from only natural dyes. It was likely made for aristocracy and could very well have been in a palace. The traditional floral and medallion design is woven by hand in intricate details on a rich midnight blue background with a central medallion of robin's egg blue, ivory, taupe and crimson concentric layers, highly adorned with small flowers on the vine in a spectacular array of colors: periwinkle blue, fern green, yellow, sea green, chartreuse, carnation pink, olive green and lime green, walnut and silver, all colors which continue throughout the rug's blue open field. The delicate flourishes and floral details are breathtaking and the abundance of intricacies is extraordinary. Floral sprays and bouquets symmetrically continue in all of these colors and countless others, leading to the corners that match the medallion perfectly. The rug's beautiful border, hand-knotted on crimson red and framed by rows of cornflower blue, has a glorious garland of flowers on the vine. This rug is a collector's piece and an antique that will last for generations. Size: 13'4"x18'10"
