This is a rare find - a handmade vintage palace size traditional Persian Kashan of the finest quality in mint condition. This rug is a collector's piece. Hand-knotted in the 1950s by master weavers, this rug is made from the highest quality wool that comes from the softest parts of the lamb. It is handmade with superior craftsmanship, a high knot count (or KPSI, knots per square inch) and only vegetable and other natural dyes. The traditional floral and medallion design on a dramatic red open field is exquisitely woven in intricate details by hand. The spectacular central medallion and corresponding corners are resplendent in infinite colors and details that you can last in -- brilliant sapphire blue, ivory and midnight blue for the backdrops for the abundant flowers in full bloom in grass green, olive, peach, persimmon, coral, mauve, mint green, fruit punch and countless other colors. Note how garlands of flowers seem to hang from the medallion as they dip into the red open field. The floral designs continue above and below the medallion, creating an elongated series of floral sprays and bouquets. These same incredible designs and colors are echoed in the corners and continue in the border, a midnight blue frame with sapphire edges, each row with its own garland of flowers in the same spectacular colors. This rug was likely woven for aristocracy and could have easily been made for a palace. The floral details throughout are unique for their incredible array of colors that go beyond the typical colorway for this style of rug. Size: 11'x17'9"
