This is an extraordinary find - an extremely fine quality brand new large handmade Heriz Serapi design rug with spectacular tribal details and brilliant colors. It was handmade by expert weavers in India and the craftsmanship is superior. The fine quality wool creates a plush, supple, soft pile that is heavenly underfoot, can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The classic geometric medallion design with an open field is based on antique Persian Serapi rug patterns that date back over a century. The prominent central medallion is the floral heart of the rug, starting with its champagne center, surrounded by a hunter layer that leads to the deep ocean blue petals with intricate details in pastel shades of lemonade pink, golden yellow, powder blue, turquoise and mint green. The final layer of the flower is an elusive shade best described as cinnamon, with continued intricate details in the same beautiful accent colors. The lush hunter green open field leads to four bone/ivory corners with symmetrical tribal flower details in the same colors as the central flower. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. The border has its own larger format tribal floral and vine motif in the same brilliant colors of the rug hand-knotted on a cinnamon frame, which in turn is edged by thin plum stripes with pink, silver and green garlands of leaves on the vine. This rug is a knockout, and a true statement piece. Size: 12'2"x17'9"
