This is a truly spectacular handmade vintage fine quality Persian Sarough in mint condition. Hand-knotted in the 1980s by master weavers, this rug is made from high quality wool with superior craftsmanship and only natural dyes. The traditional floral and medallion design is exquisitely woven in intricate details by hand. The medallion design is known as Sheikh Safi, named for the famous mosque whose cupola is the inspiration for the medaliion, like a flower or star with 16 leaves or petals in perfect symmetry. The colors are brilliant, a rich royal blue with accent colors of azure blue, pink coral, turquoise, ivory, champagne, fruit punch, lemonade pink, and countless others.  The spectacular star flower medallion is hand-knotted in Tiffany turquoise blue with ivory and pink accents, petals radiating out in the same delicate colors that continue throughout the blue open field. Swirling floral sprays and flowers on the vine and other stunning accents dance in perfect symmetry, leading the way to the pomegranate border with its own complementary flower and vine garland in all of the rug's colors.  The corners echo the medallion perfectly, with petals radiating inward with the same flourishes and flower details.
