This is a handmade fine quality vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner from the 1980s with an allover repeating intricate paisley (known as boteh, the ancient Persian tribal precursor to the paisley) design. The paisleys appear blue from afar, but are actually made up of tiny knots of sapphire, midnight blue and royal blue, white, shell pink and a spot of pale yellow, all on a luscious strawberry red background. This rug is made with fine craftsmanship and details that are very fine and precise. The border is a striking complement to the allover paisley design - a white frame that lightens and brightens the runner with an intricate geometric repeating motif that resembles hieroglyphics, all hand-knotted in the same colors as the boteh motifs. The border is surrounded by red and blue rows of small colorful tiny flowers on the vine. All colors are made from only natural dyes. This runner is perfect for high traffic areas and anywhere you want to add color and softness underfoot. Note that this rug has a few minor imperfections - there is slight color running in a few spots in the border. See last photos for close ups. This distress adds to the one of a kind handmade nature of the rug, and also makes it a great price! Size: 3'5"x11'9"
