This tribal handmade Persian Hamedan runner is a vintage gem. The allover motifs resemble Christmas tree lights or even Christmas trees, filling the entire rug with bright and charming red, white and green details against a rich cherry red backdrop. Hand-knotted in the 1980s, this runner is made with quality wool and natural dyes. It has a very sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The allover repeating design is known as boteh, an ancient precursor to paisley. It reveals a wonderful mix of colors as you get closer, much like a pointillist painting -- white, hunter green, pale sky blue, olive green, dusty rose, sapphire and mint green. The border is a particularly intriguing and beautiful element of this runner. The ivory frame lightens and brightens the rug, and its geometric design resembling hieroglyphics with its intricacies is hand-knotted in a bright spearmint green with accents in all of the rug's colors. The runner has one imperfection and is otherwise in perfect condition. The edge of one end is cut off before the full border design (see last photo). This adds to the one of a kind handmade nature of the rug and also makes it a great price! Size: 3'8"x10'10"
