This is a fine quality vintage handmade Persian Baluch accent rug. It was hand-knotted by expert tribal Baluchi weavers using only natural dyes and soft wool that creates a sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The tribal and geometric design is known as "elephant foot", a hallmark of rugs from this region. The rug is bursting with intricate designs on a black background with cherry red and white medallions and other small repeating geometric motifs. Muted burgundy, orange and sand are used for additional accents and designs throughout the allover design. Note the geometric details inside the elephant's feet and surrounding them. The borders are particularly striking on this rug, with their own repeating small wave-like and tribal designs in rows of red, black and white. A versatile size, this rug is great for an entrance, bedside, office, child's room, kitchen and any space that needs some tribal color and style. It is distressed in several areas - low pile in many spots, color running in a few, and some "scruffy" spots along the bindings -- see last 2 photos for close-ups. These imperfections make this rug a great value and add to its one of a kind handmade charm. Size: 4'1"x7'1"
