This is a beautiful and fine quality Afghan prayer rug/accent rug that was hand-knotted by expert Baluchi tribal weavers. The colors are made from natural dyes and really pop against the dark background. This rug was designed as a prayer rug with its mosque-like outline defining the rug's central design, but it can also be used as an accent rug or a tapestry/wall-hanging. The intricate geometric and tribal motifs that adorn the rug add beautiful details that will continue to emerge and delight as you get closer to the rug. The midnight blue backdrop is a dramatic canvas for all of the highly detailed decorative motifs in gold, copper, plum, royal blue, grass green, bright red, chocolate and rust. The architectural structure that represents the mosque with multiple turrets is created with concentric layers of ornamentation in all of the colors above. There are beautiful designs and tribal elements throughout the rug. The border is also a decorative element of the rug, with repeating rows of stars and other geometric motif in the rug's colors. This rug is made of fine wool which gives it a soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The rug has some minor irregularities which add to its one of a kind handmade authenticity. Note from the photos how one end is curved and the rug doesn't fall perfectly straight. Size: 3'2"x5'2"
