This beautiful brand new contemporary Kazakh tribal area rug was hand-knotted in Afghanistan. The rug is woven in a transitional design -- taking the inspiration from traditional antique rug designs and updating them with modern colors. This is a fine quality rug with high caliber wool, a high knot count (KPSI, knots per square inch) for precise details, and superior craftsmanship. The colors are made from only natural dyes. The rug's neutral background color is a creamy ivory, a perfect canvas for the vibrant allover design in repeating geometric motifs known as "guls", which often represent natural elements such as lakes or mountains. The perfectly symmetrical pattern of small and larger ornate medallions in star and snowflake-like shapes is hand-knotted in a wonderful array of bright colors: cherry red, peach, royal blue, azure blue, and sea green. The border is a beautiful complementary cherry red frame of geometric flowers on the vine in all of the rug's colors, framed by thin rows of sea green and azure with their own charming small flower repeats. This rug has a sturdy, thin pile that is perfect for high traffic areas and will last generations.
